The One Is Beyond Reach; the Word Is the Bridge

Through the Word of the Guru's Shabad, one may merge with the Infinite, Unapproachable and Incomprehensible Lord. ||1||Pause||

In plain words

How could anyone put a price on the One?

Only through the Guru's Word can a soul merge into the One who is endless, unreachable, beyond all grasp.

The One is beyond all reach — and the Guru's Word is the bridge across that very gap.
The deeper layer

The Pause states the immeasurability ("how can anyone appraise the Lord's worth?") and the one bridge across it: the Shabad. The One is "Infinite, Unapproachable and Incomprehensible" — and yet, through the Word, the unreachable becomes merged with. The Guru's Word spans the very gap it describes.

A Question to Sit With

How can a few true words sometimes bring you close to something vast?
