ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਕੀਮਤਿ ਜਾਣੈ ਕੋਇ ॥
gurmukh keemat jaanai ko-ay.
Few are the Gurmukhs who know His worth.
ਵਿਰਲੇ ਕਰਮਿ ਪਰਾਪਤਿ ਹੋਇ ॥
virlay karam paraapat ho-ay.
How rare are those who receive the Lord's Grace.
ਊਚੀ ਬਾਣੀ ਊਚਾ ਹੋਇ ॥

Through the Sublime Bani of His Word, one becomes sublime.

The Gurmukh chants the Word of the Shabad. ||2||
Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa
Few, turned toward the Guru, know His worth; rare are those who receive His grace.
Through the sublime Word a soul becomes sublime;
the Gurmukh sings the Word.
You slowly become like whatever you steep yourself in — so steep yourself in the sublime.
"Through the Sublime Bani of His Word, one becomes sublime" — a precise statement of how the Shabad works: you become like what you immerse in. Singing the sublime Word makes the singer sublime. This is the deep logic of naam simran and of Rang — saturation transforms.
A Question to Sit With
How do you become a little like the things and people you spend the most time with?
