Living Cut Off Is an Ache; Reconnecting, Relief

vin naavai dukh darad sareer.
Without the Name, the body suffers in pain;
satgur bhaytay taa utrai peer.
but when one meets the True Guru, then that pain is removed.
bin gur bhaytay dukh kamaa-ay.
Without meeting the Guru, the mortal earns only pain.
manmukh bahutee milai sajaa-ay. ||3||
The self-willed manmukh receives only more punishment. ||3||

In plain words

Without the Name the body aches; meet the true Guru, and that ache is lifted.

Without meeting the Guru, a person earns only pain;

the self-willed only pile up more suffering.

Living cut off from your source is its own kind of ache — and reconnecting is the relief.
The deeper layer

A plain diagnosis: "without the Name, the body suffers in pain." The pain is not arbitrary punishment but the natural ache of living cut off from one's source — and the manmukh (self-willed) compounds it by staying turned away. Meeting the Guru lifts it not by magic but by reconnecting the soul to the Name.

A Question to Sit With

What kind of ache eases the moment you reconnect with something you'd drifted from?
