In plain words

Serve the Guru, and a lasting peace comes. In the company of the true, sing the One's praises.

Whoever holds the Name in mind

saves himself — and his family along with him.

Holding the Name doesn't just save you — it lifts your whole family with you.
The deeper layer

Holding the Name lifts up not just you, but the people around you.

Here is the good path. Serve the Guru, and a lasting peace comes. Join the Sat Sangat, the gathering of good people, and sing the One's praises. Think about the Name again and again.

The one who does this aap tarai — crosses over — and is kul udhranhaar, the one who lifts the whole family too. Other shabads in this raag say the same. Think of one person on a team who stays calm and kind. Soon the whole team feels steadier. For Guru Amar Das, being saved is never a solo escape. It lifts the home and the whole gathering together.

A Question to Sit With

How can one person's steadiness make a whole household feel safer?
