But the one who pleases the One is a joyful bride forever.
She makes the Guru's Word her jewelry; her resting place is sweet, and she delights in her Beloved night and day.
Meeting Him, she finds a peace that never ends.
This one says the most beautiful jewelry a soul can wear is the Guru's Word.
Now comes the other bride. A suhaagan is a "happy bride," one who is close to her Beloved. Gur sabdee seegaar banaavai — she makes the Guru's Word her jewelry. The Shabad is the Guru's Word, and it is her whole outfit.
Both brides wear decorations. The only difference is what they are wearing. One is dressed in clinging to things. The other is dressed in the Word.
Think of two friends going to a party. One wears the fanciest clothes but is grumpy all night. The other wears something simple but is kind and full of joy. You remember the second one.
The happy bride meets her Beloved, and she finds a peace that never ends. This picture of beauty made from the Word also shows up in Shabad 59.
What inner "adornment" would you most like to be known for?
