ੴ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ॥

One Universal Creator God. By The Grace Of The True Guru:
ਹਰਿ ਕੈ ਭਾਣੈ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਮਿਲੈ ਸਚੁ ਸੋਝੀ ਹੋਈ ॥
har kai bhaanai satgur milai sach sojhee ho-ee.
By the Pleasure of the Lord's Will, one meets the True Guru, and true understanding is obtained.
ਗੁਰ ਪਰਸਾਦੀ ਮਨਿ ਵਸੈ ਹਰਿ ਬੂਝੈ ਸੋਈ ॥੧॥
gur parsaadee man vasai har boojhai so-ee. ||1||
By Guru's Grace, the Lord abides in the mind, and one comes to understand the Lord. ||1||

When it pleases the One, you meet the true Guru and real understanding comes.
By the Guru's grace the One settles in the mind, and you come to know the One.
Even the moment of understanding comes in its own time, when the One wills it.
This Kaafee opens the refrain that will sound through it: "by the Pleasure of the Lord's Will" (bhana). Even meeting the Guru and gaining understanding happen when it pleases the One — the initiative is grace's. The soul's part is to receive what the Will, in its own timing, opens.
