Death was ordained from the very beginning — and yet it is the ego that makes us cry.
Meditating on the Name, the one turned to the Guru grows stable and steady.
Much of our fear of death is the ego refusing what was always certain.
A clear-eyed opening: death is built into life "from the very beginning," so it is no surprise — yet "ego makes us cry." Much of our grief over death is the ego refusing what was always certain. The cure is not denial but steadiness: the Gurmukh, meditating, "becomes stable and steady" before the inevitable.
A Question to Sit With
How might facing a hard truth honestly make you steadier, not sadder?
