Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa
As a bride of pure deeds, I have met the Guru.
Such a bride looks beautiful — in her devotions, at her wedding, and in the world to come.
Real beauty is the kind that holds steady through every stage of life and beyond.
This one says real beauty lasts through every stage of life.
This is the Rahao, the "pause" line, the center of the shabad. The bride's actions are pure, and she meets the Guru. She looks beautiful in worship, at her wedding, and in the next world.
Her beauty is not her face. It is her character. Think of a kind grandparent whose kindness shines at every age. Character holds steady through this life and beyond. (See also Shabad 71: what travels on is what you become.)
A Question to Sit With
What kind of beauty actually lasts a whole lifetime?
