Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa
I have come to the Trader's door.
Show me the goods, so the deal can be done.
The deal begins with a humble request: show me the real thing.
The Pause is the eager petition of the buyer at "the door of the Trader" (the Guru, the dealer in the Name). The soul does not demand; it asks to be shown the merchandise. The transaction of the Name begins with this humble request to see (cf. Shabad 26, "display the merchandise").
A Question to Sit With
What would you ask to be shown, if you could see one truly valuable thing clearly?
