I earned the profit, and I am glad.
Blessed is the Banker, the perfect Giver.
How rare is the one, turned to the Guru, who gets this merchandise — Nanak has carried this profitable treasure home.
The trading-trip of life succeeds when you carry the one true treasure home.
The journey ends in profit and gladness, with praise to "the Banker, the Perfect Bestower" — God as the giver of the only investment that pays. The merchandise is rare ("how rare is the Gurmukh who obtains"), but for the one who does, the trading-trip of life has succeeded: the treasure is carried home.
A Question to Sit With
At the end of a long effort, what would count as having truly "profited"?
