No Quarrel Left With Anyone

ਹਮਰਾ ਝਗਰਾ ਰਹਾ ਨ ਕੋਊ ॥

pandit mulaaN chhaaday do-oo. ||1|| rahaa-o.
I have abandoned both the Pandits, the Hindu religious scholars, and the Mullahs, the Muslim priests. ||1||Pause||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

I have no quarrel left with anyone.

I have left both the Pandits and the Mullahs, the Hindu scholars and the Muslim teachers.

Peace can mean quietly stepping out of everyone else's argument.
The deeper layer

With no quarrel left, you need no one standing between you and the One.

This is the pause line, the rahaa-o, the center of the shabad.

Hamraa jhagraa rahaa na ko-oo — I have no fight left with anybody. Jhagraa means a quarrel. Dropping the quarrel is part of the peace itself.

Pandit mulaa chhaaday do-oo — I have left both. A pandit was a Hindu scholar. A mullah was a Muslim teacher. Kabir treats them the same. He is not insulting them or their faiths. He is saying he no longer needs anyone standing in between him and the One.

Think of a friend you love. You don't need someone else to pass notes between you. You can just talk to them yourself.

A Question to Sit With

Is there an argument you could simply step out of — not by winning, but by letting it go?
