Strong wanting is the window. Pain and pleasure are the gatekeepers. Right and wrong are the gates.
Anger is the great commander, always quarrelling and picking fights, and the mind is the rebel king there.
Your restless inner life is like a castle, full of guards who won't listen.
Kabir gives each part a job. Kaam, strong craving, is the window. Dukh sukh, pain and pleasure, are the gatekeepers. Paap punn, wrong and right, are the gates. Krodh, anger, is the loud army commander, always picking fights.
And who sits on the throne? Man maavaasee raajaa — the mind is the rebel king. A rebel king won't obey the true ruler.
Think of a classroom when the teacher steps out. One kid jumps on the desk and starts giving orders. It gets loud and messy. The castle inside us can be like that. It has turned against its own true Ruler, the One.
Which loud commander — anger, craving, or pride — is hardest for you to quiet?
