O Nanak, our Lord and Master is All-pervading; through the True Word of the Shabad, we are emancipated. ||4||1||2||

In plain words

How rare in this world are those who, through the Guru, tame their minds and think deeply on the Word.

Nanak says: our Master fills everything, everywhere. Through the true Word, we are set free.

Quieting your own mind is rare — and it opens the whole world.
The deeper layer

Those who calm their mind through the Word are rare, and they find the One everywhere.

Tay virlay sansaaraa means they are rare in this world. Man maari-aa means taming the mind. It is quieting it, the way you calm a restless puppy. These people also think deeply about the Shabad, the Guru's Word, until it lives in them.

Then Guru Nanak says what they find. Saahib bharipur leenaa — the Master fills everything, everywhere. It is like the air in a room. You cannot see it, but it is in every corner.

The shabad ends with freedom. Saach sabad nistaaraa — the true Word carries us all the way across.

A Question to Sit With

What would it feel like to have a quiet, settled mind?
