He does not know God, who created this world, for a moment, for even an instant. ||1||

In plain words

All night long they sleep, caught in a snare around the neck; all day is lost in tangles and busy things.

Not for a moment, not for an instant, do they know the One who made this world.

It's easy to sleep through your days — the invitation is simply to wake up and look.
The deeper layer

A life can sleep through everything and never stop to know the One who made it.

Nights go by in sleep. Days go by in janjaal, which means tangles: the hundred small jobs and worries that pull at us.

Think of scrolling on a phone for hours. You look up, the afternoon is gone, and you can't say where it went. The verse says a whole life can pass that way. Khin pal gharee nahee prabh jaani-aa: not for a moment, not for an instant, do we stop to know the One. And the One is the very One who made this world.

The verse has a strong picture for this, gal faahee: being tied up tight. It means being caught and held by all that busyness. The call underneath is gentle. Wake up, even for a moment, and notice who made it all.

A Question to Sit With

What's one thing you rush past every day that might be worth noticing?
