In plain words

Strong wanting, anger, greed, getting carried away with yourself, speaking badly of others, and pride all fade away in the Sangat.

By great good luck, you meet saints like these. Nanak says: I give myself to them forever.

The Sangat is where the storms inside you quietly settle down.
The deeper layer

The storms inside you settle in the Sangat.

The verse lists them. Kaam is strong desire. Krodh is anger. Lobh is greed. Mad is getting carried away with ourselves. Nindaa is tearing other people down. Abhimaan is pride.

In the saadhsang, the Sangat — people gathered together to remember the One — they all quietly fade.

Think of a glass of muddy water. Let it sit still, and the mud sinks. The water turns clear. The Sangat is the stillness that lets the heart settle.

Aisay sant bhayteh vadbhaagee: meeting such people is great good luck. Naanak tin kai sad kurbaan: Nanak gives himself to them forever. His whole heart bows in thanks.

A Question to Sit With

Who calms you down just by being around?
