Sometimes we wish a good friend would come along and point us back toward what matters. That wish is a good one.
When someone speaks to you about the deep, true things, treasure them — they are giving you a gift.
Keep turning toward the One with love, and you will find what you were really after.
And when you feel lost, run — not away, but toward safety, toward the shelter of the One. The people who remember are lucky indeed.
This one says good friends can turn you back toward what matters.
Sakhee sahaylee mayree-aa — my friends and companions. The Guru wishes someone would come and bring him to the One. This is sangat, good company. We do not walk alone. The right friends help us turn back toward what is real.
Ha-o man dayva-o tis aapnaa — I would give my heart to whoever tells me stories of the One.
Think of a teammate who reminds you to practice before the big game. They are not nagging. They want you to shine. A friend like that is a gift.
Naanak bhaj har sarnaagatee — Nanak, hurry to the One's shelter. Bhaj here means to run. All through this raag, the running is toward a safe place, not only away from danger.
Vadbhaagee means very lucky. The wish to remember the One is itself a blessing. You do not make it yourself. You notice it stirring, and you follow it.
Who are the friends who bring out the best, calmest, kindest part of you?
