Falling at the Guru's Feet, I am cooled and soothed; I meditate on the Lord's Name within my heart. ||1||Pause||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

The One Himself keeps me safe from fever and from wrongdoing.

At the Guru's feet I grow cool and calm, repeating the Naam in my heart.

The right place to rest can cool a hot, worried mind.
The deeper layer

The One protects me, and at the Guru's feet I grow calm.

Taap paap tay raakhay aap means He Himself keeps me safe from taap, the fever of trouble, and from paap, wrongdoing. Seetal bha-ay gur charnee laagay means at the Guru's feet, I became cool and calm. Seetal is a word Raag Bilaaval loves. To sit at someone's feet means to learn from them humbly. It feels like cool shade under a tree on a hot day.

Raam naam hirday meh jaap means keep repeating the Lord's Name in your hirday, your heart.

A Question to Sit With

What cools you down when your mind feels hot and busy?
