Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa
When there is no loving remembrance of the One inside a person,
that life slips away for nothing. Keep this close in your mind.
Treasure your days, and spend them turned toward the One.
This is the Rahao, the "pause" line. It is the center of the shabad.
Jaa mai bhajan raam ko naahee — the one who has no loving remembrance of the One inside. Bhajan means loving remembrance. Tih nar janam akaarath kho-i-aa — that person lets life slip away for nothing. Yeh raakho man maahee — keep this in mind.
This is a gentle wake-up, not a warning meant to scare. Think of a snow day. It is a gift. You can spend it staring at a screen, or outside building a snowman with friends. Each day of life is a gift like that. The invitation is to treasure it and turn toward the One now.
What is one small way you could be more awake and grateful today?
