The thieves and robbers hide out in the body; through the Word of the Guru's Shabad, they are arrested and locked up. ||3||

In plain words

That same body-house is a treasure fortress, packed with gold and jewels -- all the good that is inside you.

When wisdom wakes up in you, you fall in love with what is true, and those sneaky thieves get caught and locked away by the Guru's Word. The treasure stays safe.

You are a treasure fortress -- wisdom keeps the good in you safe.
The deeper layer

The same body is also a fortress full of jewels.

Kanchan kot baho maanak bhari-aa: the body is a fort packed with gold and jewels. Those jewels are the good that is really inside us. Jaagay gi-aan tat liv la-ee-aa: when wisdom wakes up, we fall in love with what is truly real.

Then the thieves are dealt with. Taskar hayroo aa-ay lukaanay: the robbers come and hide in the body. Gur kai sabad pakarh banDh pa-ee-aa: the Guru's Word catches them and locks them up. Think of a museum guard who wakes up and switches on every light. The treasure is safe again.

A Question to Sit With

What are some of the jewels -- good qualities -- already inside you?
