Gazing upon the Guru, my mind's faith is fulfilled, like the song-bird, which cries and cries, until the rain-drop falls into its mouth. ||1||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

My mind and body are full of love for the One, and every moment my trust rises higher.

When I see the Guru, that trust is answered -- like the little rainbird that cries and cries until at last the raindrop falls right into its open beak.

*Keep your heart open, and what you long for can fall right in.*
The deeper layer

The opening verse. chaatrik pari-o pari-o boond mukh -- the classic image of the rainbird waiting for its one drop. sardhaa man pooree -- trust fulfilled on meeting the Guru. Longing and its answer held in a single picture.

A Question to Sit With

What are you waiting for with your whole heart right now?
