mehlaa 3.
Third Mehl:
naanak so salaahee-ai jis vas sabh kichh ho-ay.
O Nanak, praise Him, who has control over everything.
Remember Him, O mortals - without Him, there is no other at all.
gurmukh antar man vasai sadaa sadaa sukh ho-ay. ||2||
He dwells deep within those who are Gurmukh; forever and ever, they are at peace. ||2||

Nanak says: praise the One in whose care everything rests.
Keep the One in mind -- there is no other.
Turned toward the Guru, you carry the One inside, and are at peace, always.
When you rest your trust in the One that holds everything, peace becomes steady.
A short Guru Amar Das shalok. Compact and total: jis vas sabh kichh ho-ay -- the One in whose care all things rest -- and therefore the natural place to turn. Tis bin avar na ko-ay is not exclusion of others but the recognition of a single underlying reality (Ik -- oneness). The reward is the Vaar's most-repeated one: sadaa sadaa sukh -- peace that simply stays.
A Question to Sit With
What helps you feel steady when things around you feel out of your control?
