In plain words

I set aside the old family customs and turned toward the living Word the Guru gave me. Not out of disrespect — because this is what my heart needed.

Kabir says: the One lifts away every weight and stands beside those who love it. That is the peace my family will understand one day.

Sometimes the deepest respect is choosing what is alive for you.
The deeper layer

ghar kay dayv pitar kee chhodee — leaving the household deities and ancestor-rites for gur ko sabad. Rendered as choosing the living Name over inherited form — a critique of empty ritual, not of the family or their faith. Kabir's iconoclasm cuts at formalism in every tradition. sagal paap khandan — the One who lifts away every weight.

A Question to Sit With

What is a tradition in your family that matters to you, and why?
