There is only One. And the One is found by the True Guru's grace — a gift that is always here, waiting for an open heart.
There is an old story: a man once dressed up as a holy figure to fool a king's daughter, entirely for his own selfish reasons.
And yet, when things came to a head, the One quietly stepped in and saved his dignity anyway. If grace reached even him, surely it can reach a sincere heart.
The One's kindness reaches farther than you would guess.
Bhagat Sadhna, whose shabad this is, was a butcher by trade, a humble worker. Yet his song sits in the Guru Granth Sahib beside the Gurus' own. He begins with a story from the Puranas, old Hindu story books. A man dressed up as the god Vishnu to trick a king's daughter. He did it only for selfish reasons. That was wrong, and the story does not pretend otherwise.
Yet when he got into trouble, the One saved his honor: vaa kee paij savaaree. The point is not that tricking people is fine. The point is how wide grace is. If kindness reached even him, surely it reaches a sincere heart that asks.
If someone is being unkind to you or hurting you, that is never something you have to accept. Telling a grown-up you trust is always the right thing to do.
Do you think people can be helped even when they have not earned it?
