Verse 5 of 5

Made Clean And Bright

ਮਨ ਤਨ ਨਿਰਮਲ ਪਾਪ ਜਲਿ ਖੀਨਾ ॥
man tan nirmal paap jal kheenaa.
The mind and body are made immaculate and pure, and sins are burnt to ashes.
ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਭਏ ਪ੍ਰਸੀਨਾ ॥੪॥੭॥੧੨॥
kaho naanak parabh bha-ay parseenaa. ||4||7||12||
Says Nanak, God is pleased with me. ||4||7||12||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

Inside and out, mind and body, I feel washed clean — the old heavy mistakes burned away like morning mist that lifts once the sun is up.

And more than clean: Nanak says, the One is pleased — glad with me. That warmth is everything.

The old weight burns off like morning mist — and what is left is the warmth of being received.
The deeper layer

Man tan nirmal paap jal kheenaa — mind and body made pure, the old mistakes burned away like morning mist lifting in the sun. Kaho naanak prabh bha-ay parseenaa — God is pleased: what remains is the warmth of being received gladly.

A Question to Sit With

What does it feel like when you know someone you love is glad with you?
