Verse 2 of 3

Whatever the Heart Wishes

aapay hee parabh raakh-taa bhagtan kee aan.
God Himself saves the honor of His devotees.
jo jo chitvahi saaDh jan so laytaa maan. ||1|| rahaa-o.
Whatever God's Holy servants wish for, He grants to them. ||1||Pause||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

God Himself keeps the honour of those who love God.

Whatever God's holy people wish for, God grants it.

A heart aligned with the One is quietly given what it longs for.
The deeper layer

aapay hee prabh raakh-taa, bhagtan kee aan — the One guards the dignity of those who love; jo jo chitvahi... so laytaa maan — what such a heart wishes for is granted.

This is the Rahao, the "pause" line, the centre the whole shabad turns around.

A Question to Sit With

What does your heart quietly long for?
