Faults Forgiven, Wishes Given

ਦੋਖ ਹਮਾਰੇ ਬਖਸਿਅਨੁ ਅਪਣੀ ਕਲ ਧਾਰੀ ॥
dokh hamaaray bakhsi-an apnee kal Dhaaree.
He has forgiven me for my sins, and interceded with His power.
ਮਨ ਬਾਂਛਤ ਫਲ ਦਿਤਿਅਨੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਬਲਿਹਾਰੀ ॥੨॥੧੬॥੮੦॥
man baaNchhat fal diti-an naanak balihaaree. ||2||16||80||
I have been blessed with the fruits of my mind's desires; Nanak is a sacrifice to Him. ||2||16||80||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

The One forgave the faults I carried and steadied me with its own strength.

It gave me just what my heart had hoped for. Nanak says: I give my whole self to the One in thanks.

Forgiven and given what you hoped for — the only reply is thanks.
The deeper layer

dokh hamaaray bakhsian, apnee kal dhaaree — faults forgiven, steadied by the One's own strength; man baaNchhat fal ditian, naanak balihaaree — given the heart's wish, offering the whole self in thanks.

A Question to Sit With

What are you most thankful for right now?
