In plain words

All peace is found at the teacher's feet.

They wash away my wrongs and clear my mind; their support carries me across.

The deepest peace is found in bowing your head to something wiser than you — and letting yourself be carried across, instead of exhausting yourself swimming.
The deeper layer

This one says: peace comes when we are humble enough to learn.

sarab sukhaa gur charanaa — all peace is found at the Guru's feet. Feet are the lowest part of a person. They are where you bow your head. So finding peace there means finding it in humility, in not acting above everything.

The words are gentle: wrongs washed away, the mind made clear, and being carried across. Notice that the seeker does not carry himself. He is carried. It is the old picture of a boat on a wide river. Think of a ferry. You reach the other side by staying on board, not by swimming hard on your own.

Peace, a clean heart and a safe crossing all come from one humble act: bowing to what is wiser than you.

A Question to Sit With

Is there peace in admitting you don't have to do everything by your own strength?
