Verse 4 of 4

My God is the Master of the masterless.

ਮਨ ਮਹਿ ਰਾਖਉ ਏਕ ਅਸਾਰੇ ॥

Within my mind, I have the Support of the One Lord alone.
ਨਾਨਕ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਮੇਰੇ ਕਰਨੈਹਾਰੇ ॥੪॥੨੫॥

O Nanak, my God is the Creator of all. ||4||25||

In plain words

In my mind I lean on the support of the One alone.

Nanak: my One is the Maker of everything.

Instead of scattering your trust across a hundred fragile things, you can rest your whole weight on the One — and that One turns out to be the source of everything.
The deeper layer

The shabad ends by narrowing to a single support — "the One Lord alone" — and then widening to everything: that same One "is the Creator of all." This is the beautiful movement of trust: you lean your whole weight on one thing, and that one thing turns out to be the source of everything else. It is the opposite of scattering your reliance across a hundred fragile supports. Rest everything on the One, and you have rested on the ground of all that is. The four short verses together map a whole posture of the soul: protected on all sides, saturated with remembrance, nourished by simple practice, and leaning on the single sufficient support.

A Question to Sit With

Is it stronger to lean on many small supports, or on one that holds everything up?
