Within the heart, beyond the heart, and in all places, God, the Perfect One, is seen to be permeating. ||1||

In plain words

The One is inside, and the One is outside; the One fills everything there is.

Within the heart, beyond the heart, in every single place — the whole One is found, complete, everywhere.

The One isn't off in some far place — it's inside you, outside you, filling every spot there is. You're never anywhere it isn't.
The deeper layer

This is Ik Onkar stated with beautiful plainness. The One is not somewhere — up in a heaven, off in a temple. It is inside you, outside you, filling every place completely. There is no location where it is more present and no place where it is absent. For a child this is the deepest comfort: you are never somewhere the One isn't. You cannot travel away from it or be left out of it. And it dissolves the false picture of a God who watches from a distance — there is no distance. The One is the very medium you live in, closer than your own breath.

A Question to Sit With

If the One is in every single place, is there anywhere you could go to be away from it?
