In plain words

Since what is already done cannot simply be wiped away, here is what I do instead: I keep the Name of the One on my lips and in my heart.

I hold the Name because keeping the One lifts me forward, lighter, no matter what came before. That is where freedom lives.

You can't undo the past, but holding the One carries you forward past its weight.
The deeper layer

You cannot undo the past, but holding the One carries you forward.

Poorbalo kirat karam na mitai ree: what was done before cannot be erased. Ghar gayhan taa chay mohi jaapee-alay raam chay naama: dear wife of my house, this is why I hold the One's Name. The whole list of great figures was building to this turn.

The answer is the Name, not despair about what was done. The Name is how the heart moves forward. Think of a hiker with a heavy backpack. A kind friend comes alongside and helps carry the weight up the hill. Grace does not erase the past. It carries you beyond its weight.

A Question to Sit With

What helps you move forward when something simply cannot be undone?
