Servant Nanak has come to Your Sanctuary, O Lord; protect and preserve the honor of Your devotee. ||4||5||

In plain words

The One is the master and also the servant, and shapes every way of things.

I have come to Your shelter — gently guard the honor of those who love You.

The One plays every part, so no role sits above another.
The deeper layer

The One plays every part, so no one is above or below another.

aapay thaakur aapay sayvak — the One is both the master and the servant. aap banaavai bhaatee — the One shapes every way things are. Think of one actor playing every role in a school play. The king and the helper are the same person underneath. This takes apart the whole ladder of high and low.

The shabad ends with trust. har raakho laaj bhagaatee — keep the honor of those who love You. Nanak has come to the One's shelter and rests there.

A Question to Sit With

If the same One is in the leader and the helper, how should we treat each of them?
