In plain words

People of all kinds come together to honor the One and to sing the beautiful Word.

Their singing and listening is received when they take the teaching to heart and live by it.

Beautiful words matter most when you live by them.
The deeper layer

Everyone is welcome to come and sing, and the singing counts most when we live what we sing.

Sayvak sikh poojan sabh aavahi — all the servants and Sikhs come to worship. It is a picture of open, shared love, where everyone is invited.

But when does the singing land? Gaavi-aa suni-aa tin kaa har thaa-ay paavai — their singing and listening is received. It is received when it is joined to mannai, taking the teaching to heart. Jin satgur kee aagi-aa sat sat kar maanee — those who take the teaching as true, completely true.

It is like a team song. Singing it together is great. Playing like a team is what makes it real. Singing and living it go together, not one without the other.

A Question to Sit With

Is it easier to say a good thing or to do it? When have you managed both?
