Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

I have fallen in love with the One.

My true Guru is always by my side, always ready to help. The Guru has torn down the flag that pain had planted in me.

When your heart loves the One, you never carry your pain alone.
The deeper layer

Love for the One brings a helper who is always there.

This is the Rahao, the "pause" line at the center of the shabad. Mayraa laago raam si-o hayt — my heart has fallen in love with the One. Hayt means love. The satgur, the true teacher, is sadaa sahaa-ee, always my helper.

Jin dukh kaa kaati-aa kayt — the one who cut down the flag of pain. A kayt is a flag. Pain had planted its flag in the heart, like a flag on a captured hill. The teacher pulled it down.

A Question to Sit With

Who is someone in your life who makes a hard day feel lighter just by being near?
