No One Can Outmatch This Help

No one can equal one who has the Lord of the Universe on his side.
jam kee taraas mitai jis simrat naanak naam Dhi-aa-ee. ||2||2||33||
The fear of the Messenger of Death is eradicated, remembering Him in meditation; Nanak meditates on the Naam, the Name of the Lord. ||2||2||33||

In plain words

No one can get the better of you when the One who made everything is at your side.

Holding the Name in mind, the old fear of dying loosens its grip and simply melts away.

With the One beside you, no one can overpower you.
The deeper layer

With the One beside you, no one can get the better of you.

Taa ka-o ko-ay na pahuchanhaaraa jaa kai ang gusaa-ee — no one can match the person who has the One at their side. Gusaa-ee is a name for the One, the Master of the world.

Then comes a line about the biggest fear of all. Jam kee taraas mitai — the dread of death dissolves. Jam is the messenger of death in the old stories. Taraas means dread. This is not a threat to scare anyone. It is a fear that quietly ends, like a bad dream fading when morning light comes in. What ends it is naam Dhi-aa-ee, holding the Name in mind.

A Question to Sit With

When you feel small or outnumbered, what would it change to remember you are not standing alone?
