In plain words

My heart is drawn like a bee to the honey-sweet feet of the One. Night and day, I thirst.

Give this little songbird one drop of Your mercy-rain, so that I may come to live inside Your Name.

After seeing the whole sky worship, the heart asks only for one drop of mercy.
The deeper layer

After seeing the whole universe worship, the singer asks for just one drop of mercy.

This last verse turns from the huge sky to a small, tender request. The heart is lobhit, drawn like a bee to makrand, sweet nectar. The nectar is the One's charan kamal, lotus feet, a loving way to speak of the One's presence. Night and day, the heart is thirsty.

Then comes a famous picture, the saaring. It is a rain-bird, said to drink only raindrops as they fall. So the singer asks for kirpaa jal, the water of mercy. With it, the singer can make a home tayrai naam, in Your Name. Like a thirsty bird waiting for rain, the heart asks for only one drop.

A Question to Sit With

What is one small thing you would ask for, if you could ask for just one?
