O Lord of Sanctuary, all-powerful, imperceptible and unfathomable - Your Name is the Purifier of sinners.

The Inner-knower, the Lord and Master of Nanak is totally pervading and permeating everywhere; He is my Lord and Master. ||2||2||54||

In plain words

My shelter, all-powerful, beyond words and beyond what the senses can catch — Your Name lifts up everyone who has fallen.

You know what is inside me, my Master, filling every place there is — You are mine.

The One beyond all words is also the One who knows you from the inside.
The deeper layer

The One is so great that words cannot hold it, yet the One's Name is close enough to lift up anyone who falls.

The verse starts with big names for the One. Saran means shelter. Samrath means able to do anything. Akath means beyond words. Agocharaa means beyond what eyes and ears can catch.

That could make the One feel far away. But the next words bring the One close: patit uDhaaran naam tayraa — Your Name lifts up the fallen.

And the One is antarjaamee, the One who knows what is inside you. Think of a best friend who can tell you are sad before you say a word. The One who fills every place is also that close.

A Question to Sit With

What does it mean to you that someone could know your insides and still be on your side?
