Robes of Every Kind

ਅਨਿਕ ਪ੍ਰਕਾਰੀ ਬਸਤ੍ਰ ਓਢਾਏ ॥
anik parkaaree bastar odhaa-ay.
He is dressed in robes of all sorts,
ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਕੀਰਤਨੁ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਨ ਗਾਏ ॥੨॥
an-din keertan har gun gaa-ay. ||2||
if he sings the Kirtan of the Lord's Glorious Praises, day and night. ||2||

In plain words

It is as if you were dressed in the finest robes of every kind —

when, day and night, you sing the praise of the One.

The finest thing you can wear is a heart full of song.
The deeper layer

The finest clothes anyone can wear are praise for the One, sung day and night.

Anik parkaaree bastar odhaa-ay — dressed in robes of every kind. That sounds like the richest wardrobe in the world. The finery that counts is an-din keertan, singing the One's praise day and night.

Think of someone dressed up in the fanciest outfit but grumpy inside, next to someone in plain clothes who is glowing with joy. The joy is what shines. Outer beauty is only truly worn when the inner song is there.

A Question to Sit With

What is a kind of 'richness' that doesn't cost any money?
