In plain words

Speak of the One. Read of the One. Listen deeply for the One.

The One who holds up the whole earth will steady you with patience, goodness, and shelter.

Self-control, honesty, and calm settle naturally into a heart like this.

All of this grows when the mind rests in that fourth, awake stillness — beyond waking, dreaming, and deep sleep.

Goodness grows on its own in a settled mind.
The deeper layer

Speak, read, and listen for the One, and good qualities start growing in you on their own.

Kahta-o parh-ta-o sunta-o ayk — speak, read, and hear the One.

The verse then names a special calm: cha-uthay pad, the fourth state. In India's old teachings it is called turiya. We know three states already: being awake, dreaming, and deep sleep. The fourth is an awake stillness beyond all three.

Jat sat sanjam — self-control, truth, and calm restraint. The verse says these arrive by themselves once the mind rests in that stillness. They are gifts that come with it, not hard chores you grind through. It is like a garden. When the soil is good, flowers come up on their own.

A Question to Sit With

What good things happen naturally in you when you are calm?
