No Dust Can Cling

Through the Word of the Guru's Shabad, their doubt and fear depart.

The form and personality of the Primal Lord are incomparably beautiful.

In plain words

When you are rooted in what is true, you stay clear and clean, and no dust of confusion can cling to you.

Through the words that guide us, doubt and fear simply fall away.

The beauty of the First One, the source of everything, is beyond anything we can compare.

This is all I ask for: that True One, the shape of Truth itself.

Ask for Truth itself, and the false loses its grip.
The deeper layer

When you are rooted in what is true, no dirt can stick to you.

Naanak jaachai saach saroop — Nanak asks only for the One who is the very shape of Truth. Saach saroop means Truth given a form. The One is aad anoop, the First, beyond compare.

Rooted there, mail, the dust of confusion, cannot cling. Think of a lotus leaf. Water and mud roll right off it, and it stays clean.

A Question to Sit With

If you could ask for one thing that would never wash off, what would it be?
