The ones who love the One glow, made beautiful by the teaching they carry.
Sweet words are on their tongues, and the more they taste them, the more they long for the One.
Getting close to what's golden, they turn golden themselves, the way a plain metal touched by a magic stone turns to gold.
They let go of the feeling that they're separate and alone, and that lets something lasting grow in them. Few people ever think this deeply about wisdom.
Nanak says: the ones who love the One shine at the door of Truth, and they make their whole life a trade in what's real.
People who love the One begin to glow, and goodness rubs off on them.
Bhagat soheh darvaar — the devotees look beautiful in the Court. A bhagat is a devotee, someone who loves the One. They are made beautiful by the Shabad, the Guru's Word.
The paaras image comes back here. The paaras is a magic stone from old stories that turns plain metal into gold. Paaras parsi-ai paaras ho-ay — touching the paaras, they become paaras too. Get close to what is golden, and you turn golden.
Aap gavaa-i-aa — they let go of the small, separate self. That makes room for what lasts. Saachay kay vaapaaree — they are traders in Truth. Guru Nanak liked this picture of a merchant. Their whole business is what is real.
Who is someone whose goodness seems to rub off on the people around them?
