In plain words

Which form of Yours should I turn my heart toward? What practice could I take up to steady this restless body and mind?

"How do I even begin to draw near?" — and honest not-knowing is itself a good place to start.
The deeper layer

The shabad opens with a question: how do I come close to You?

Kavan roop tayraa aaraadha-o — which form of Yours should I worship? Kavan jog kaa-i-aa lay saadha-o — what practice should I use to steady my body? A jog is a practice, a way of training body and mind.

Think of a child who wants to help in the kitchen but does not know where to start. These are not doubting questions. They are humble ones. This person really wants to come near and is not sure how.

The whole shabad is this honest not-knowing. By the end, we find that the not-knowing is itself where the answer begins.

A Question to Sit With

When you really want to get close to something good, is it okay to admit you're not sure how yet?
