Sikhism·Raag Gauree·Shabad 105
Verse 3 of 5

A Heart Full of Presence Has No Room for Worry

ਜਾ ਕੈ ਹਿਰਦੈ ਠਾਕੁਰੁ ਹੋਇ ॥
jaa kai hirdai thaakur ho-ay.
Those whose hearts are filled with their Lord and Master
ਤਾ ਕਉ ਸਹਸਾ ਨਾਹੀ ਕੋਇ ॥੨॥
taa ka-o sahsaa naahee ko-ay. ||2||
- no anxiety can affect them. ||2||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

When my heart is full of the One, there is no room left for worry. Anxiety cannot squeeze in where a quiet, steady presence already lives.

A heart already full of presence has little room for worry.
The deeper layer

Hirdai thaakur ho-ay -- when the Master lives in the heart. Sahsaa is the low buzz of anxiety, the free-floating dread that has no single cause. Guru Arjan's medicine is not to argue with the worry but to fill the space it needs. A heart already occupied by presence simply has less room for fear.

A Question to Sit With

What helps you feel full and settled inside instead of anxious and empty?
