O Giver of every treasure, whoever rests their hope in You is untouchable by the world's storms. Nothing that happens out there can reach in and shake what is anchored in You.
Rest your hope in the One, and the world's storms cannot reach your center.
This is the Rahao -- the pause line that holds the shabad's central thought. Maadhau is a name for the divine as the source of all wealth and sweetness. To place your aas (hope, expectation) in the One is to move your center of gravity: the ups and downs of sansaar (the changing world) can no longer knock you over, because you are not standing on them.
A Question to Sit With
Where do you usually place your hopes -- in things that change, or in something steady?
