In plain words

Being near people who are truly good is like walking through cleansing air -- the dust they carry is kindness, and it wipes away so much that weighed on you. In their company, the endless cycle of grasping and losing loosens its hold.

Being near truly good people quietly changes you for the better.
The deeper layer

Guru Arjan says being near truly good people washes away what weighs on you.

Sant means the holy, the truly good. Sant kee Dhoor, the dust of the saints' feet, is a humble picture: just being near them is a blessing. That dust wipes away agh kot, millions of wrongs. And janam maran tay chhot: by their grace, one is set free from the round of birth and death. That round can be read as the tiring cycle of grabbing and losing, over and over. The freedom here is a hopeful one.

Think of how you pick up the way your friends talk. Spend time with kind people and kindness rubs off on you. Good company reshapes a person.

A Question to Sit With

Who is someone whose company always seems to make you calmer or kinder?
