Any Moment You Turn to Remember Is Good

ਭਲੋ ਸਮੋ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਕੀ ਬਰੀਆ ॥
bhalo samo simran kee baree-aa.
It is a good time, when I remember Him in meditation.
ਸਿਮਰਤ ਨਾਮੁ ਭੈ ਪਾਰਿ ਉਤਰੀਆ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
simrat naam bhai paar utree-aa. ||1|| rahaa-o.
Meditating on the Naam, the Name of the Lord, I cross over the terrifying world-ocean. ||1||Pause||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

Any moment I turn to remember the One is a good moment -- there is no wrong time for it. Holding the Name, I cross safely over the wide, frightening waters of life.

Any moment you turn to remember the One is a good moment.
The deeper layer

The Rahao. Bhalo samo simran kee baree-aa -- blessed is the time of remembrance. Simrat naam bhai paar utree-aa -- remembering the Name, I cross the bhai (fearful world-ocean). The bhavjal (world-ocean) is Gurbani's image for life's overwhelming difficulties; the Name is what ferries you across. We keep it hopeful -- crossing over, not drowning.

A Question to Sit With

Is there a small good habit you keep telling yourself to do 'later'? What if now is the good time?
