Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa
I am filled with gratitude for that teacher -- for meeting that light changed everything for me, and I was carried safely through. That is the whole story.
Meeting the light that rescues you turns your whole heart to gratitude.
The closing couplet. Tis gur balihaaree -- I am a sacrifice to (utterly grateful for) that teacher. Jis bhaytat gat bha-ee hamaaree -- meeting whom, I was saved. Balihaaree is overflowing gratitude, giving oneself in thanks; gat is release, being freed. The shabad -- and this whole set of Gauree M5 shabads -- ends on pure thankfulness for the light that rescues.
