In plain words

What a good day it was, and what a lucky turn!

That day and that chance brought me face to face with the One. The One is everywhere, and belongs to no one and to everything at once.

Some days are lucky because of what they turn you toward: the One who is everywhere.
The deeper layer

Some days are lucky because of what they turn you toward.

Bhalay dinas bhalay sanjog — blessed is the day, and blessed is the sanjog, the chance coming-together. That day and that chance led to meeting paarbarahm nirjog. Paarbarahm is the Supreme One. Nirjog means unattached: tied to nothing, yet present in everything.

Think of the day you met your best friend. It may have started as an ordinary day. Looking back, it was one of the luckiest days of all.

The shabad celebrates a moment of meeting and calls it a lucky coming-together. It does not explain what that luck is. One way to hear it is as grace arriving by happy accident.

A Question to Sit With

What day do you look back on as lucky for what it turned you toward?
