Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

In the company of good and true-hearted people, I gathered the one wealth that lasts — the Name held in the heart. And every heavy trouble I carried was lifted clean away.

Among the right people you gather the one wealth that lasts, and heavy troubles lift.
The deeper layer

Good company is where the wealth that lasts is gathered.

Naam raas saaDh sang khaatee — in the company of the holy, I have earned the wealth of the Name. Raas is savings, the money you build a life on. SaaDh sang is the company of good, true-hearted people. This wealth is earned not by straining, but simply by being there.

Kaho naanak parabh apdaa kaatee — Nanak says, God has cut away my trouble. Apdaa means a heavy trouble. It is lifted by grace, not by force. Think of carrying a heavy backpack up a hill, and a friend quietly lifting it off your shoulders.

A Question to Sit With

What is one "trouble" you would most love to feel lifted from your shoulders?
