Death strikes her down with his rod, the shackles are placed around her neck, and now the five have left. ||3||

And so the temple is torn down, the body is emptied out, and the soul, suddenly alone, is taken. Death strikes her with his rod and puts the chains around her neck -- and now the five are nowhere to be found.
The five that promised pleasure vanish the moment death arrives -- they were only ever thieves.
The bitter ending of inattention: the five that promised pleasure abandon the soul at the moment of death. They were never companions, only thieves. The shackles and rod are the consequences the soul faces alone -- the passions take the goods and leave the bill.
