ਕਾਮਣਿ ਲੋੜੈ ਸੁਇਨਾ ਰੁਪਾ ਮਿਤ੍ਰ ਲੁੜੇਨਿ ਸੁ ਖਾਧਾਤਾ ॥
kaaman lorhai su-inaa rupaa mitar lurhayn so khaaDhaataa.
The wife yearns for gold and silver, and her friends, the senses, yearn for good food.
ਨਾਨਕ ਪਾਪ ਕਰੇ ਤਿਨ ਕਾਰਣਿ ਜਾਸੀ ਜਮਪੁਰਿ ਬਾਧਾਤਾ ॥੪॥੨॥੧੪॥
naanak paap karay tin kaaran jaasee jampur baaDhaataa. ||4||2||14||
O Nanak, she commits sins for their sake; she shall go, bound and gagged, to the City of Death. ||4||2||14||

The soul keeps longing for gold and silver, and the senses keep begging for their treats. For their sake she does wrong, and ends up led away, bound, to the city of death.
Doing wrong for the sake of cravings leads the soul away in chains.
The closing diagnosis: the soul does wrong for the sake of cravings -- greed and sensory appetite. The "City of Death" is the destination of a life organized around the five. Nanak's whole shabad is a plea to switch allegiance from the thieves to the Name while there is still time.
